A steam shower has a number of prerequisites. It must first be completely enclosed and watertight with tile, stone, etc. Additionally, the shower door must be secure and have a complete rubber seal. For some steam models we sell, even certain fully enclosed fibreglass tubs and showers are suitable. Consult the manufacturer if you have one of these to confirm if steam is an option. The sole difference between a steam shower and a regular shower is the addition of a steam head and an in-shower control. The actual steam generator may be placed in a crawl space, garage, attic, or closet, some distance from the shower itself. It’s also advised to install good bathroom ventilation right outside the shower.
